Graduate Competitive Travel Awards Application - Fall 2024
Students traveling between August-December 2024 will be eligible for fall 2024 travel awards.
Application Deadline: Monday, July 1, 2024, 5pm
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: All application materials (except the letter of support) should be submitted electronically as a single PDF file in the order listed below. (Requirements 1-4)
1. A detailed statement (maximum 1 page) written by the student describing the nature of the conference/event and the potential impact of participation/attendance on the student’s professional development.
2. A copy of the submitted abstract, conference proposal, artist statement, etc. of presentation or exhibition. (Unsubmitted drafts are acceptable if the call for conference submissions occurs after the deadline to apply for this award).
3. Documentation (if available) from the conference organizer indicating that the submission has been accepted. If documentation of acceptance has not been received at the time of application submission, it must be obtained and presented prior to travel. This documentation is required before funds will be released.
4. A budget itemizing anticipated registration/travel expenses and an indication of the amount being requested from this award.
LETTER OF SUPPORT: A student’s major professor or school director will use this FORM to submit their letter of support.
- Affirm the academic/professional appropriateness of the conference/event.
- Confirm the eligibility of the student.
- The amount of funding that will be provided by the academic unit to support the applicant’s additional allowable travel expenses. (It does not need to be equivalent to the request from this award, but there must be support provided from the unit in order to be considered.)
A student may submit only one application per funding period and receive only one award per academic year.
